Reegan is 2 weeks old. He is still sleeping a lot. My aunty said because he is a 'piglet'!! He gets quite busy when he sleeps. He will smile, get frustrated and squeezed his face tight, make lots of noise. Sometimes he will just cry out real loudly as if dreaming about people snatching away his milk...but after a short outburst, he easily settles back into slumber.
Daddy is away, so Mummy runs all the errands. Reegan has already been to Meredith's school, swim class, reading class, supermarket and the local petrol kiosk, where surprisingly, the service men and ladies recognised me and was rather fascinated by the newborn. He certainly enjoys all these car rides though.
Look how exactly he looks like the father now...

The Story of Mars vs Venus
It was a lovely afternoon with friends at the Rose Veranda, something I'd wanted to do before the dreaded confinement. But it seemed the kids had a greater time!

Mars: See, you use HANDS to wolf down the chicken wings. Its finger-licking good!
Venus: Yucks! I won't even want to eat it with a tissue...
Venus: Think I prefer bite-size potato balls...
After the adventure, its time to get down to work...

Mars: I am drawing DRAGONS and the LION from the lion dance.
Venus: I am drawing PRINCESSES. They will wear long dresses and have long hair.
race together...
and help each other...
The End

Things to do
Yes! It's all cleared. My table is ready for someone else to take over. Will always remember its prime location and a much sought-after one.
Then we had a few things we had needed to do:
Did some final shopping for didi...

I think we are ready...

To laugh or to CRY??!!
H despite being an efficient helper in the house, really has some weird initiatives.
1. She would add funny sauce in the soup - RESULT: Soup taste weird. Everybody left theirs untouched.
2. Took Meredith's little stickers and decorated the room's switches - RESULT: The switch looked like it had chicken pox! VANDALISM!
3. The hotel had some cotton balls as part of the toiletries. Meredith took it back as she found them so cute - RESULT: H took them, tore them into bits to decorate our xmas tree to give it a snowy effect. Harmless, just that she will have to clear it up when we keep the tree.
4. We decided to stop using the air purifier, which we used to put lots of eucalyptus oil for aromatherapy - RESULT: She must have found the container very suitable for our ranchu, she used it to put the fish whenever she change the water. The fishes float vertically, intoxicated by the remains of the eucalyptus oil.
5. Told her she would help in our BBQ - RESULT: She put lots of make-up, maybe only foundation (who was she trying to impress or seduce huh??). Her make-up melts as she bbq for the guests.
And the list goes on and on...
HER LATEST!
Put perfume on my bed! RESULT: Can't sleep! Too pungent! Makes me nauseous! Cos its NOT the same as aromatherapy! I feel I need FRESH AIR!

The torpedo dive!

The swim school heated up the pool. Now its a heated pool. The kids enjoy more. Meredith would not stop diving underneath while waiting for her turn on the platform. Perhaps you dun need the wet suit anymore, Meredith!

Nothing beats a hearty good meal!

This was last Wednesday. After a monotonous day at school, I headed home wondering what to have for lunch. Nearly turned into Newton Hawker Centre for a Char Kway Tiao but the heavy traffic made me change my mind. I drove towards home, still dunno what's to come. Wanted then to head to Delifrance then spotted a parking lot next to NTUC, which is very hard to come by. On the way to Delifrance, I do not know who or what directed me into Choupinette, a little French bistro I've always wanted to try. So I walked in, and, hmmmm, nice little cosy place, could imagine spending the whole afternoon in that place with loved ones.
Looked at the surprisingly expensive menu but decided to place my order anyway. Forgot what this is, but its the usual ham and cheese and something else special that they had which added to the taste. It is DELICIOUS!! VERY VERY DELICIOUS!! UNFORGETTABLE! Beat the Char Kway Tiao and anything from Delifrance anytime!

Egg Tart
We made egg tart yesterday. Having put it off for so long. Managed to find a easy-eoungh-to-follow recipe from the web. Turned out great!
Piping hot and fresh from the oven...Ok ok...the pastry looks a bit thick but its ok cos Meredith only eats tha pastry anyway. Bon Appetit!

60 days or less!
We were at the ob check yesterday. Although my EDD is 24 March, the ob suggested 2 weeks earlier for a C-Section. He even asked us to select a date if we have any in mind. Maybe on the 18 Mar, then we'll form a nice number line. Roy's 19, Meredith's 20, mine 21, our wedding anniversary 22...we may have a 18, 19, 20, 21, 22 running number!
But the thing now is....what name for the baby?

The Weekend
The weekend was indeed GREAT! We had a lovely breakfast at the Botanic Gardens. The weather was so kind and we were blessed with the constant breeze, just nice for that alfresco dining.
After being rejected at two restaurants, we finally landed up at Portobelle at Killiney Road for dinner. No regrets though. The chef was indeed good. The Vongole we had were simply awesome. The texture of the sphaghetti was just beautiful, coupled with the delightful sauce and generous spread of baby clams. R just had to scrape off that entire plate.
Meredith wanted pizza, and this came folded. Something special.
What we enjoyed especially was also the warm pita bread with their salsa sauce. Simply gorgeous!
Meredith's present for Mummy wrapped so lovingly all by herself. It's really the thought that counts!
Meredith suggested we have the cake at home. "Here's the cake Mama."

On Sunday, we went to Pu Tien at Kitchener Road...finally. It was indeed no disappointment.
The restaurant was nicely decorated and every dish was truly well made.
Meredith was just so fascinated with the carrot cut into an 'M'. Get it...cos M is for Meredith.
After a wonderful dinner, we headed down to One Fullerton for dessert and how would Meredith forget about the birthday cake...again

Looks like she's the one enjoying the cake...

Remember to spend some time with your loved ones
Words of Wisdom from George Carlin
The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less; we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.
We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom. We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.
We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to life not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things. We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.
These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete.
Remember to spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.
Remember to say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.
Remember to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent.
Remember to say, "I love you" to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.
Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again. Give time to love, give time to speak, and give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.
AND ALWAYS REMEMBER: Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments we have and share with one another...

Cheers 2007!
I look forward to a short term in school and then to being a full-time mummy for a while...

Pictures of the fireworks at countdown at the Marina Bayfront. Didn't manage to catch a better view...but what we saw and heard was good enough. Cheers to a GREAT year ahead!

It's the Thick Toast!

Yeah...Bread Talk has a new outlet aptly named Toast Box. They served up quite good Mee Siam as the gravy was thick enough.
But the best was the thick toast. We tried that while in Bangkok. It's actually a thick, soft slice of bread, toasted and then had a layer of margarine/ butter then topped with either Kaya or Peanut Butter. Although the Toast Box's Kaya wasn't as smooth and creamy as the one in Bangkok, but it's really good enough. Have to eat it when its hot. Go try it!

A last holiday
We were in Malacca for Xmas. It would be the last holiday for 2006. Had our own little celebration walking around and trying out new eateries and of course, more presents for everyone! Although the hotel was quite horrible but it was a nice room we had. Four beds in a room made things really cosy. But most of all, and most importantly, it definitely was a well reserved time for the whole family to just gather together.
Meredith on 'an elephant'. Paid RM 2 for about
5 rounds of the ride. Well, as long as she enjoyed it...

Trying out the food on the streets for the first time! And its definitely the Char Kway Tiao that stood out. YUM!
Spotted this old Fiat 127. In our younger days,
when cars were still expensive, we scouted around
for this car, which was going $5000 and could last 2 years.
The mechanics called it a grape - pu toh. Cute!
A new fan because the other ' is not
working anymore'.

Finally...presents on Xmas eve! Among all , the most anticipated one-the Hello Kitty watch. 'Now I can tell you the time Mama!'

Before we set off, friends recommended authentic Nyonya food at Nancy's Kitchen. It was no disappointment. Check out the beautiful Ang Ku Kueh in assorted colours made just that morning (too bad they only have it bean paste filling, no peanut ones!)...and thereafter a scrumptious Peranakan lunch.
And lastly, back home on Xmas Day, a last gift exchange.
A set of ring and necklace of Snow White
which she had wanted so much.

And for Mummy, a little something that supposedly
releases stress. Made more meaningful because the
smaller fella relaxing next to 'Mummy' is supposed to be
didi...her new sibling on the way...
